Ray Von Arndt, 85, of Statesville, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Davis Regional Medical Center in Statesville.

Born Nov. 24, 1923, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Floyd A. Arndt and Jessie Sigmon Arndt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carroll Arndt and Willis Arndt.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary "Cathene" Hilton Arndt; daughters, Gail Furr and her husband, Thomas Furr Jr., and Mary Moore, all of Charlotte.
