Leading Seaman RN 212270 Arthur Allen served in the Royal Navy on HMS Ariadne a minelayer, that was torpedoed on 26th July 1917 by German U-Boat UC-65 in the English Channel off the East Sussex Coast and sank shortly afterwards with the loss of all hands..
