The Correctionville News, 28 December 1972, page 1: Earl Abram Walrod, son of Cyrus and Calista Brown Walrod, was born January 21, 1881, near Grand Mound, Iowa. He lived in the Clinton and Davenport areas in his earlier years and moved to the Cushing-Correctionville area in 1903. He was married to Tressie Shever on September 6, 1905, and to this union eleven children were born. Earl farmed in this area and also did trucking in later years. He had resided at the Valley View home in Correctionville since March 1971. He died December 22, 1972, at the age of 91 after a short illness. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Della Juelfs of Cushing, Mrs. Ruby Lloyd of Kent, Washington, and Mrs. Roberta Bolles of Ontario, Oregon; three sons, Virgil and Roger of Los Altos Hills, California, and Alfred of Santa Clara, California, a brother, Redmon Walrod of Boone, thirteen grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Elroy, and a son, Oscar who was killed in World War II. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 26, 1972, at 2 p.m. in the Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville with Pastor Donald Wahlgren of St. John Lutheran Church in Cushing officiating. Interment was in the Correctionville Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons, Dale Juelfs, Duane Juelfs, Don Juelfs, Dick Juelfs, Dennis Juelfs, and Joseph Walrod.
