Susan Nibbe, 47, of Highland Park, Illinois, died December 21, 2008 at Rainbow Hospice Ark in Park Ridge, IL.

Susan Marlene Nibbe was born June 14, 1961 to Fritz & Marlene Nibbe in Lake City, MN. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1979. Susan worked for Equitable Life Ins. Co. in Rochester and received a degree of Associate in Arts from Rochester Community College in 1984. She attended Augsburg College and graduated, summa cum laude, from Concordia College in Moorhead in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, Hospital Administration and Health Care Financial Management. She did an internship at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. In 1988 she graduated from the University of Iowa with a Master of Arts degree in Hospital and Health Administration. From 1988-1991 she was employed by Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in Long Beach, California. Since 1991 she worked for Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois and the past seven years has been Vice President and Director of Finance. She was a member of the University of Iowa Department of Health Management and Policy Alumni Board of Directors. Her greatest accomplishments were getting the cancer treatment center built and the 192 bed (green) facility being added to the hospital now. Susan enjoyed traveling, reading, flower gardening, and being with her friends.

Survivors include her parents, 2 sisters Carol (Michael) Hoops, Janet (Craig) Platte of Lake City; 2 nieces Amanda (Jeremy) Kohrs, Emily (Dan) Lafferty; 1 nephew Jacob Hoops all of Lake City. She was preceded in death by a brother, Neil, and her grandparents.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City with the Rev. Dennis Valleau officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Friends may also call one hour before the services.
Memorials will be given to a Project Pink.
