First Lieutenant Robert (Bob) S. Byrnes enlisted in the United States Army in 1965 and started a tour in Vietnam on 07/09/1967 Battery A, 3rd. Battalion, 82nd. Artillery 196th. Light Infantry Brigade.

Sadly on 02/09/1968 1st Lt Robert S. Byrnes was killed in action during a firefight while serving as a Forward Observer in Quang Nam Province, near Lo Giang with Company D, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry.


First Lieutenant Robert (Bob) S. Byrnes can be found on Panel 38E Line 046 of the Vietnam Memorial, Washington DC., Patriot's Park Fair Oaks Ca., La Sierra High School Vietnam Veterans Memorial Carmichael Ca., California Vietnam Memorial Sacramento Ca.


Robert is survived by his brother James McCaleb Byrnes and sister in-law Judi L. Byrnes of Carmichael, CA. and his parents are both deceased, Augustus McCaleb (Mac) Byrnes lll & Marion Ellan Byrnes.


Robert was married for just two weeks prior to his death.

He is deeply loved and missed.
