Performing dog. Skidboot was a working ranch dog, but his performing talents lead him to world famous recognition. He performed for several years at the Texas State Fair and entertained students at local schools. In 2003 his owner/trainer, David Hartwig, entered Skidboot in the Animal Planet's Pet Star competition. He won the $25,000 top prize. After his appearance he became a national TV star, appearing on Oprah Winfrey, Jay Leno and David Letterman to name a few. He continued to work on the ranch and in 2005 he was kicked by a horse blinding him in one eye. His health slowly declined after the accident.
