Obituary from the Plattsmouth Weekly Journal May 16, 1895

Demise of Mrs. Vallery
Mary the Faithful Consort of Jacob Vallery Sr. Crosses the Dark River. The Funeral Tomorrow.

Yesterday morning at 8 o'clock Mary, wife of Jacob Vallery Sr, departed this life. She had been sick about one day with heart failure, super induced by old age, when the message of death rapped at her door, sad her queenly spirit entered the Heavenly Kingdom.
She was born in Germany seventy-six years ago(this is an error) and in girlhood came to Ohio with her parents. It was there she married her kind and loving husband, who still survives her. She is the mother of seven children of which Mary and John R. are deceased. Mrs. Rummel, Mrs. Pitcher, C.F., Jacob and Peter are still living and reside in this vicinity.
After the allotted period for the existence of mankind, the lamp has ceased to burn. Life's oil has been consumed. Thus ends a long and useful life, filled with love.,affection, kindness and charity. She with her husband and children have resided in Cass county since 1858. They were among the pioneers, who through perseverance, industry and thrift have made Nebraska what it is.
The whole community extends its heartfelt sympathy to the husband and surviving children in this, their sad bereavement.
The funeral will take place from the family residence west of town at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon. Rev.H.B. Burgess, officiating. She will be laid at rest beside her two children at Oak Hill cemetery in this city.
