Born July 30, 1944, at Matheny, he was the son of the late Ira Winfield Cook (1917-1997) and Etta Jane Shumate-Cook (1920-2007). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Denver J. Lusk (Deceased); and sister-in-law, Brenda Lusk-Lafferty (Deceased).
Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 27 years, Debbie Lusk-Cook (B. 1954); mother-in-law, Annis Cook; brother-in-law, Little Michael J. Lusk; four brothers, Ira Cook Jr., Clyde Cook and Glen Cook, all of Matheny, and Claude Cook of Fairdale; sisters, Elda Jean Cook-Smith (1942-2010) of Matheny and Andrea Cook-Halsey of SC; a special niece, Tara Cook; a special nephew, Michael Paul Lafferty, both of Oceana; his little dogs, Mindy I and Mindy II; his special friends and neighbors, Hearld Slack, Kenneth Sizemore, Charlie Hill and Roscoe Runyon, and a host of nephews and nieces.
There will be no visitation. Service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, at Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, with the Rev. Clyde Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens.
