She was born September 27, 1909, in the city of Dearborn, to the late Louis and Katie (Ritter) Querfeld. Some of her early life's memories are of her father Louis visiting with Henry Ford on their farm in Dearborn which is now part of the Ford Motor Company Proving Grounds. She grew up on this farm with her older brothers William and Orvel and younger brother Art. She lost a 6 year old brother Moris to diphtheria, just weeks after she was born.

She married her late husband William (Hap) on July 3, 1929. Hap was a WWI veteran and retired Ford Motor Company employee. They raised their four children in a house that was moved from Lincoln Park to farm land they purchased in Taylor, Michigan. in 1932 and still resided at this home.

During WWII Pearl worked for the Bendix Company in the war effort. She later worked at Wyandotte Hospital in the 1950's. She was also well known for her great cooking at various restaurants that she worked at during her life time. In 1959 Pearl and Hap retired to Tampa, Florida only to return a few years later because of her heartache from being away from her family.
