The Society has gotten its information from rolls of the National Archives. According to roll 45, J.W. Lambert, Pvt of the 5th VA, Co.D was captured at Waynesboro on 3-2-65. He was assigned to live in division 1 which are the wooden barracks outside the Fort. He died at Fort Delaware on 6-4-65 of chronic diarrhea and is buried at Finns Point, New Jersey, across the Delaware River from Fort Delaware.
He was then buried at Mint Spring Augusta Co. His death certificate is filed in Augusta County, Virginia
