Joseph J. Knox procures a marriage in Roane County, on the September 6, 1817, He marries Margaret Erwin September 11, 1817. It is not proved yet that this was "our" Joseph J. Knox. Joseph next appears on the 1820 Warren County, Tennessee as head with a large household including a 45+ female. There are 3 toddler age males and several other young adults. More needs to be known of this household.
Joseph and Harriett Gregory Dennis were married November 10, 1822 in Warren County, Tennessee at the home of John Dial by a Baptist minister. Joseph's household is in the neighborhood. It is thought that after the death of her father in Caswell County, North Carolina in 1808 she is living with her half-sister, Catherine Dennis Cox in Warren County. Her mother has married Edmund Lyons and may be living in Warren County; just not seen in records. They do move on to Overton County.
The story given by Nancy Dennis White is the newlyweds left immediately after the wedding for the Indian lands in Monroe County, Tennessee. The earliest record found for Joseph is a list of jurors May 4, 1924 in Monroe County, Tennessee.
The family lived in Monroe County until about 1951 then moved to Overton County, Tennessee.
