Elizabeth "Libby" Henritze Abbott, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, December 15, 2008. Libby fought the fight with ALS (Lou Gehrig's diseae) for the past seven years. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Ray and Bernice Mustard Henritze. She was a member of Belmont Christian Church. She attended Andrew Lewis High School in Salem and graduated with the Class of 1954 at Jefferson Senior High School in Roanoke. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Caudel (Link) Newman Abbott Sr.; sons, Caudel N. Abbott Jr. and wife, Donna, Jeff M. Abbott and wife, Jeni, and Jay S. Abbott, all of Roanoke; granddaughters, Cynthia Lee Abbott and Julie Elizabeth Abbott; stepgranddaughter, Meghann Eisner, all of Roanoke; brothers, Jack Henritze, of Richmond, Bob Henritze, Earl Henritze and wife, Carolyn, of Roanoke; sisters, Ruth Lee, of Salem, and Carolyn Lee Tremblay, of Ottawa, Canada; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Memorial Fund at Belmont Christian Church, 1101 Jamison Avenue, S.E., Roanoke, Va. 24013. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Belmont Christian Church by the Rev. David Walton. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, 540-366-0707.
