Dave was in the Army and served during World War II in the South Pacific and he received the Purple Heart award. During retirement Dave spent his winters in Sarasota, FL, and the summers in Rhinelander, WI. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, camping, vacationing and spending time with family. For many years Dave owned and operated the Fox Valley Roller Rink in Neenah and the Crystal Rock Roller Rink in Rhinelander, which two of his sons now own. Dave also worked as a roto-gravure engraver in the Fox Valley for many years.
Dave has a lot of family and friends who love him and will miss him dearly. He always had a beautiful smile and a jolly laugh. Dave and Marvel created a close-knit family. For the past six years he also enjoyed spending time with his special companion and caregiver Maryanne Smith.
Dave is survived by his children: Denny (fiance Sue) Buksyk of Rhinelander; Peggy (Don) Hanson of Winchester; Jimmy (Kerrie) Buksyk of Neenah; Susan (Richard) Roou of Neenah; Davie (Connie) Buksyk of Neenah; Joy (Todd) Henkel of Rhinelander; and Mike (Doris) Buksyk of Rhinelander, 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; special friend: Mary Anne Smith, a sister: Rita Keifer, a brother: Billy Buksyk, sister-in-laws: Bev Smith; Donna (Harley) Kopitske; Bernice Smith, brother-in-laws: DeVon (Audrey) Smith; Garland (Edna) Smith; Perry (Bim) Smith.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Marvel (Smith) Buksyk, his parents and mother/father-in-law, brothers: Nobby; Elmer (Marie); Alvin Buksyk, sisters: Olive Buksyk; Della (Melvin) Schnese, brother-in-laws: Charlie Kiefer; Donald Smith, and sister-in-law Fran Buksyk.
A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, December 18 at the Greenlawn Memorial Park Chapel in Neenah. Friends may visit at 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Dave will be given military funeral honors by the local American Legion Post.
