E.O. (Jack) Martin, 61 year old retired timber man, died Wednesday afternoon, November 26, while on a hunting trip in Greene County. Death was due to natural causes according to an inquest by a Justice of the Peace in Leakesville.
A native of Greenville, Alabama, Mr. Martin came to Lucedale from Richton, Mississippi, 14 years ago. He was employed in the timber business until ill health forced his retirement several years ago. Mr. Martin was a Mason and a member of the Shubuta Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, one son Charles Ellis Martin, Aberdeen, Miss., two daughters, Mrs. George M. Greene and Miss Mary Alice Martin, both of Lucedale, Mississippi; four grandchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Friday morning at 10:00 o'clock at the Lucedale Baptist Church. Rev. Van Hardin conducted the funeral. Masonic honors were given him at the Magnolia cemetery, where he was interred.
Pallbearers were: Raymon Bailey, Grady Brown, Benny Wright, Darwin Malone, Evern Malone, and J.W. Griffin.
