GIRL, 3, IS DROWNED IN IRRIGATION DITCH ~ BABY ON WAY TO FIELD
FALLS INTO STREAM WHILE CROSSING BRIDGE ~
Montrose, Colo., May 25 - While crossing an irrigation ditch lateral, Evelyn
Elizabeth Bennett, 3 years old, daughter of Ernest Barrett of Coal Creek,
fell into the water and was drowned.
Her lifeless body was found by her parents and a neighbor when they went
in search of her after she had been missing more than an hour.
It is thought that the little girl had started out to the field to meet her father
when she slipped from the bridge acrosse the stream.
She was the granddaughter of William Barrett, who commited suicide
recently.
