Paul was born in Memphis and lived there all
of his life until he enlisted in the Marines
19 September 1967,at the Memphis Recruiting
Office.
He arrived in Vietnam 6 March 1968 and was
assigned to Bravo Company,2st Battalion,27th
Marine Regiment,1st Marine Division.Paul died
as a result of gunshot wounds to the head and
body from hostile rifle fire along a canal,7
kilometers east of the Hue Citadel,during an
encountered with NVA/VC forces.
Survived by his wife;Carlene Whitthorne of
240 Lucerne Place,Memphis and his parents,
Paul L & Mildred T Whitthorne Jr of 2526
Manchester Road,Memphis,TN.
