Final rites were held from the Langdale Methodist church Monday for James Wiley Vickers, Sr., 78, who died Sept. 2 in a Birmingham hospital. The Rev. O. G. Waid officiated, assisted by the Rev. L. E. Kelley and the Rev. J. D. Dollar. Burial as in Langdale, conducted by Johnson and Company

Born in Clay county, Mr. Vickers had made his home in Langdale for many years. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are two sons, W. G. Vickers, of Langdale, and Jas. Wiley Vickers, Jr., of the Navy Seabees; eight daughters, Mrs. Lera Young, of Langdale; Mrs. J. W. Young, of Ashland; Mrs. R. L. Powell, of Anniston; Mrs. R. V. Bevis, of Bessemer; Mrs. C. M. Simpson, of Tuscaloosa; Mrs. E. A. Tidwell, of Long Beach; Mrs. J. W. Terry, of Riverview; and Mrs. Morton Burgess, of Langdale.

Also four brothers, three sisters, 31 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Carl Earnest, Tom Terry, Oscar Hale, Luther Frazier, Lester Knight and S. B. Terry.
