Funeral services were held at Smith's Ferry in Tyler County at 3:30, Monday afternoon for Johnnie M. Minyard, 74, who died Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hoyt May, near Aldridge. Services were conducted by Rev. Tom Campbell of Colmesneil.

"Uncle Johnnie", as he was known by so many of the older residents of this section, was born in Tyler County where he lived until 27 years ago. Since that time and until a few months ago, he lived in West Texas. He was married 51 years ago to Miss Lucy Reed, who survives him.
Besides his widow, he is survived by six daughters, Mrs. E.J.Houlett of Austin, Mrs Waldrup Lyskey of Wellington, Mrs C.M.Willis of Manochaca, Mrs H. E. Harbor of San Antonio, Mrs Edna Serton of Quail and Mrs. Hoyt May of Aldridge; four sons, Johnnie of El Paso, Jack of College, Ariz., and Doc and Lee of Quail; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Segrest of Woodville and Mrs. E.A.Sims of Groveton; one brother, W.F.Minyard of Beech Grove, and 36 grandchildren.

Among those from other points who attended the funeral services were: Mr and Mrs Waldrup Lyskey and children, Merle and Billie, of Wellington; Mr and Mrs. C.M.Willis and children, Dorothy Mae and Curtis Glenn of Manochaca; Mrs. H.E.Harbor of San Antonio, Lee Minyard of Quail; Mrs E.J.Houlett of Austin, Mrs Hoyt May and sons, Herbert and Mayo, of Aldridge; Mr and Mrs W.F.Minyard, Mrs. Perry Glenn and daughters, Aliene and Ollia Mae, and Albert Minyard, all of Beech Grove, and Mrs. E.A.Sims of Groveton.
