There is a family story that L. W. Dumas and Martha had to "run off" to get married as her father felt they were close kin. There were no blood ties, however. Supposedly, it was quite a long time before they were in the Wilkinson "mansion." They were married by Rev. Crouse on 29 Oct 1879 in Larissa, Henderson Co., Texas.
