Caleb S. Lewis, who would have been 90years old next Tuesday, died Wednesday morning at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Frank Gaylor, from the infirmaries of old age. Mr Lewis has been a resident of this city for fifty years and was known for his cheerful disposition and interesting character.

Mr. Lewis was born Aug. 2, 1847, in Columbus,Ind. When only 10 years old he came to Kansas via ox-team route and remained in Kansas for 20 years, in the days of buffalo, Indians and the wild west.

He married Miss Lydia A. Brown, Sept 15 1887, at Island City, Mo., and came to Colorado in 1877 from King City, Mo. They had six children, one dying in infancy. His wife died in 1884.

Funeral services will be held this Friday afternoon at 2:30 from the Christian church with the I.O.O.F. In charge. Mr Lewis was the last charter member of the Christian church here, and has been a member of the Odd Fellows since 1874, when he joined a Frankfort, Kan. Burial will be in the local cemetery.

He survived by three sons, John O. Lewis of Long Beach, Calif.; E.H. Lewis, with whom he lived in Las Animas; Wm. F. Lewis of this city; and his daughters, Mrs. Julia E. Short of Las Animas, and Mrs. Hattie Sanders of Harrodsburg, Ky. There are 22 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. All the children were here except Mrs. Sanders.

On Mr. Lewis' 86th birthday the Democrat published a congratulatory write-up on his birthday, telling a good deal about his life. Mr. Lewis was one of the few remaining men, who had met Buffalo Bill and Wild Bill Hickok in his travels over the western territory with a government surveying crew.
