Iva May Rinden, 90, of Lake Mills, was called to her eternal home by her heavenly Father on November 15, 2008, at the Lake Mills Care Center where she had lived since October, 2005.

The daughter of Iver and Trena (Bang) Stensrud, Iva was born on May 11, 1918, the eldest of eight children.

Iva was united in marriage to Oscar Henry Rinden on June 30, 1940, at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, Joice, Iowa, where they were members all of their adult lives.

Iva served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and enjoyed participation in musical groups all of her life. She worked at the Lake Mills Care Center for a number of years beginning in 1974, a part of her life that she treasured.

She and Oscar lived on their farm from the time of their marriage until they moved to Mills Harbour in Lake Mills in 2001. They celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Iva enjoyed meeting new people and visiting with friends from the days of childhood and youth in the Fertile, Joice and Lake Mills areas. She graduated from Joice High School in 1937.

Iva is survived by four children: David (Gracia) Rinden, Rochester, Minn.; Daniel (Mary) Rinden, Pine City, Minn.; Mary (Rollin) Tonneson, Souris, N.D.; and Martha (Mark) Jarvinen, Rosemount, Minn. She is also survived by eleven grand-children, and eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, James Stensrud, Amawalk, N.Y.; and one sister, Florene Siehlmann, Forest City. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Maxine Tungseth; brothers, Howard, Maynard, Richard, and Robert Stensrud; and one great-grandchild, Garrett Steven Menke.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, rural Joice, on Wednesday, November 19,2008 with visitation one hour prior to the service. A visitation at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, was held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Burial will follow the funeral service in the Bethel Church Cemetery.
