Early in life, Jeanne made her profession of faith in Christ at Prospect Baptist Church. She chose to follow the Lord in believer's baptism. Her parents provided a loving, Christian home to give her a firm foundation for life.
Jeanne Carole's education began at the Macedonia Schoolhouse. She graduated from Niangua High School in 1954, at age sixteen. Jeanne developed a lifelong love for reading and learning.
On June 16, 1956, she was united in marriage with Edwin L. Eilenstine. Edwin preceded her in death on June 28, 2000. They established their home and began careers in St. Louis, Missouri. Ed and Jeanne both had a strong desire to pursue higher education. Perseverance and tenacity brought Jeanne to graduation from Webster University, with a B.S. in Biology and a M.A. in Education during the sixties.
Lost Valley Lake was a favorite spot where Jeanne went to enjoy the tranquility of nature, some solitude, festive parties and the company of friends. Jeanne loved her animals. She tried to bring a bit of the farm to the suburbs of St. Louis. Pet dogs, extra-toed cats, a raccoon, banty chickens, Shetland ponies and a boa constrictor were her most unique favorites.
Jeanne is survived by one son, Kenton Eilenstine; one daughter, Elisa Bick and her husband Alfred, all of St. Louis, MO; her parents, Lloyd and Paralee Manning of Niangua; one brother, Rex Manning and his wife Jenny also of Niangua, MO; one sister, Marsha Bohannon of Wichita, KS; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joyce and R. Newton Riley of Columbia, MO, Dale Eilenstine of Lebanon, Barbara Eilenstine, also of Lebanon, MO, Donnie Fowler of Atlanta, GA and Janice Fowler also of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Renee Rardin and Paul Bick; other relatives and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by one niece, Angela Joy Eilenstine and one nephew, Gregory Don Fowler.
Jeanne was one spunky lady! She had a sense of humor, a fun-loving spirit, and a big heart. She valued her own integrity believing in hard work and perseverance. She inspired others to set goals and strive to reach their highest potential. Unselfish generosity often anonymous, she supported many charities and humanitarian causes. Jeanne was a stranger to few and a friend to many from all walks of life. She will long be remembered and greatly missed.
