Rites Set for Veteran
Services for Hubert G. Locust, of 4805 N Willard, will be at 11 am Wednesday at Avery Chapel AME Church with burial in Trice Hill Cemetery directed by McKay Davis Funeral Home.
He died Thursday at Veterans Administration Hospital.
Locust, a native of Waco, Tex., moved to Muskogee as a child around 1945. He was a retired postal employee and a former secretary and treasurer of the National Association of Postal Employees. He formerly served as an
interviewer at the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission and was a teacher in rural Oklahoma.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a Langston University graduate. He also attended Kansas State College, Emporia, Kan. He was a member of Avery Chapel AME Church, where he served on Steward Board 2 and sang in the choir.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs Mattie L. Morgan Locust, and a daughter, Glenda Katie Locust, of the home.
