Dorsey was stationed at Fort Screven, Ga for World War 1
He was shy and never married
"Dorty was probably the shiest man I have ever known. I think it was sheer hell for him to have to shave, cut people's hair, etc. He probably mostly grunted a yes or no and people probably stopped talking while he was working. He wasn't shy with the family, though. He had a bed somewhere in the back of the barbershop, I think. Other times, he stayed at a house about a mile down the railroad tracks, near Uncle Lill's fishpond. I don't think he had electricity and living there must have been very crude. He took most of his meals with us, I think. Mother probably realized he couldn't cook..."from a letter from Louise Tompkins Wynn, Sunday, July 20, 2008
