Mrs Minnie Elizabeth Allen of Aredale,died sunday Jan 30,at Franklin General Hospital,East Manor I.C.F Unit
in Hampton.Funeral Services were Held Friday Feb 4, at Aredale United Methodist Church.
Mrs MInnie Elizabeth Barnett Allen was born August 30,1888 in a Cabin in Coldwater Township,east of Greene Iowa. She was The 5th Child in a Family of eight Children born to Walter Rose Barnett and his wife Florence Dale Barnett.She began teaching in a Bennazette School west of Greene in September 1906.
On February 15 1911 she became the Bride of Ray E Allen in the Parsonage at Aredale and later transferred her membership there in to what was to become the Presant Aredle United Methodist Church.They celebrated their Golden wedding in February 1961.Her Husband Passed away in Nov 1966 and she subsequently made her Home with her Eldest Daughter and son In Law,Opal and Carl Worley.
She was The Mother of Seven Children,two of whom preceded her in Death. Vern Dale Allen in Nov 1945,and Audrey Florence Allen Rice in Jan 1977. Surviving her are her Children Opal of Aredale,Dallas,of Dumont,Lester of Bristow,
Lowell of Greene,and Carol(Mrs.Dean Haugen) Nineteen Grandchildren,thirty Two Great Grandchildren,and one Brother
Scott Barnett of Charles city also survive.
She was a member of the United Methodist Women having been so Honored Several Years ago with a Honorary Membership and The Womens Auxillary of The Harlan Cemetary which became her final resting place.
