Weldon O. Earp, age 96, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at his residence on November 4, 2008 at 2:46 pm. Weldon was born September 1, 1912 in Spring Grove Township of Warren County, Illinois. He is the son of Edgar O. and Jessie Irene Tinkham Earp. Weldon was raised in the rural Spring Grove area and attended "Cedar Hill"rural school. He then attended three years of High School in Alexis and Graduated from Monmouth High School. Weldon entered the Army and served his country in the 33rd Division Medical Detatchment and the 130th Infantry. He attained the rank of T 5 Corporal and served in Moratai, Baguio, and Luzon in the Phillipines. After the war, Weldon returned and married Beverly J. Gott on April 22, 1951 at the United Methodist Church in Bellville, Illinois. Weldon had his first truck at the age of 17 and began hauling livestock to the Chicago stockyards. He also drove a truck for a time to Milwaukee for a brewer and beer distributor. Later in his trucking career he hauled seed for "Dekalb" seed corn during the fall and winter. Weldon also has done commercial egg production operating Dun Rovin Eggery for a number of years. Weldon presently owns and operates Earp Spray Service and Fertilizer Business and has done so for sixty-six years. Weldon first love was his family, grand and great grandchildren. Weldon enjoyed NASCAR and loved dancing. He and Beverly loved to travel in their motor home and have visited most of the fifty states. He liked to bowl and in early years bowled in three different leagues. He enjoyed woodworking, duck and geese hunting, and skeet shooting. They also enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada. Weldon loved animals and especially his Great Danes.
Surviving Weldon is his wife Beverly and four sons Terry G. ( Maria Tereza) Earp of Orlando, Florida; Ronald Earp of Southern Pines, North Carolina; Jeffrey Earp of Monmouth; and Douglas (Paulette) Earp of Monmouth. Four grandsons Jason Earp of Monmouth; James Earp of DeLong, Illinois; Brandon ( Tiffany) Earp of Gerlaw, IL; and Cody Wyatt Earp of Abingdon, Illinois. Two granddaughters Brittany and Christal Earp of Orlando, Florida. Two great grandsons Bradlee Earp and CJ Rabeneau. A Great Granddaughter also survives Brittney Rabeneau Preceding Weldon in his death are his parents, Brothers Lawrence, Lester, and Wayne; and four sisters Ethel Sorenson, Lillian Robeson, Edith Hill, and Nellie Sorenson.

Services: A funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday November 9, 2008 at the Gerlaw Christian Church. A family visitation is planned on Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Interment will be Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery.
