ROACH, MRS. RUFUS R. (BESSIE) - age 95 of Chattanooga, formerly of Corryton passed away 10:55 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at Erlanger Medical Center. She was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church and attended New Corinth Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of the Preston and Mary Elizabeth Sharp family which included 10 children. Preceded in death by two husbands, Joe Woods and Rufus Roach. Survivors: stepsons and daughters in law, Wayne and Bennie Roach, Chattanooga, Vestal and Edna Roach, Knoxville; step daughter, Mamie Cassidy, Knoxville; grandson, Rodger Wayne Roach, both of Nashville; several nieces, nephews and a host of loving friends. Funeral services 11 a.m. Saturday, Cooke Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Freddie Chandler, Rev. Jerry Faulkner, Rev. Herman Lakin officiating with music by Charlie and Imogene Haynes. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Pallbearers: Neal Sharp, Ralph Sharp, Gary Sharp, Jay Sharp, Robert Faulkner, Loren Bunch. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Cooke Mortuary, Maynardville.
