Mr. Clifford L. Gilliland, age 87 of Cotter passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Baxter Regional Medical Center. Clifford Gilliland was born April 7, 1921 in Cotter to Martin Jasper and Ruth Carolyn (Layne) Gilliland. He married Beatrice Parnell in Flippin on July 28, 1946. Clifford served in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Gilliland worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a Fireman, The ESSO Station in Cotter, and finally for the Santa Fe Railroad as an Engineer in Wichita, KS. He was a member of Flippin Christian Church and a Mason.

Mr. Clifford L. Gilliland is survived by his wife Beatrice Parnell Gilliland of the home; son, Jack (Sara) Gilliland of Yellville, daughter Betty (Ted) Beck of Gassville; grandchildren: Kathryn Bader, of Springdale, AR, John Bradford Gilliland of Yellville, Michael Ellis of Mountain Home, Tony and Zachery Beck of Gassville; great-grandchildren: Owen, Alyssa, and Annelise Bader of Springdale, Josh, Amy, Elijah, and Evan Shelton of Mountain Home; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers: Paul, Martin Jasper, and Floyd Gilliland; Sisters: Mable (Gilliland) May, Bonnie Gilliland, Grace (Gilliland) Holden.

Visitation for Mr. Gilliland will be Noon – 9 PM Sunday at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be 10AM Monday at the Flippin Christian Church with Brother Russ Dunham officiating. Interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flippin Christian Church Building Fund.
