Ruth E. Saxton was born May 2, 1918 to Jesse and Annie (Howard) Saxton in Sherburn , Minnesota. She attended and later was a 1935 graduate of Sherburn High School. On November 21, 1937 she was united in marriage to Horace Sickler at the Federated Church in Sherburn, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed south of Sherburn and later moved to Elm Creek Township where they farmed until retirement in 1980. They moved into Sherburn in the fall of that year. Horace died on October 9, 1992. Ruth became a resident of Temperence Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn. On September 3, 2008, she has been a resident of the Trimont Health Care Center. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sherburn until 1993 and then joined family members at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Sherburn where she served on it's ladies aid. Ruth was a member of the Sherburn V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was a member of Heritage Acres, the Dunnell Senior Citizens and enjoyed traveling, watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Spending time with her family was very special to her.
Ruth died on Monday morning, October 27, 2008 at the Trimont Health Care Center in Trimont, Minnesota at the age of ninety years.
Those left to cherish her memory is her son, Keith (Gwen) Sickler of rural Sherburn, Minnesota; daughters, Kathy (Mel) Nelson of Rockford, Illinois and RuthAnn (Jim) North of Osceola, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law, Marsha Sickler of Sherburn, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren; nineteen greatgrandchildren;Janette (Scott) Jensen, Beth and Ben; Nancy (Jim) Diekmann, Spenser, Noah and Molly; Paul Sickler, Matthew and January; Gregg (Michelle) Sickler, Susan, Tommy, and Joey; Lisa (Doug) Hartke and Katie; John (Sheila) Sickler, Amanda, Sarah, Rachel, Nathan and Megan; Sara (Scott) Saunders and Jack; Mark (Colleen) Nelson, Jennifer and Stephanie; Tim North, Eric (Heather) North, and Sterling North and other relatives and friends
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Horace; son, Tom Sickler; great-granddaughter, Ellen; brother, George Saxton and other relatives.
