She married Ira Erastus Carpenter on July 5th, 1884 in Grundy Co., Illinois. They returned to Franklin Co., Nebraska with Ira's son from his first marriage, Fred.
Nettie and Ira had two sons, Ira W, born in Hildreth, Nebraska in 1885 and Earl A., born in Kankakee Co., Illinois in 1890.
Nettie passed away on July 5th, 1949, the sixty-fifth anniversary of her marriage, and was buried in Eldridgeville Cemetery with her husband, Ira Erastus.
The Kankakee Daily Journal obituary on July 6, 1949 reads:
Mrs. Sara Carpenter, 86, of 208 North Wildwood avenue, lifetime resident of Kankakee, died yesterday morning after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Phillips, Friday & Schreffler funeral home. The Rev. R.L. Harrell, pastor of the Central Christian Church, will be in charge. Interment will be at the Eldridgeville Cemetery near Buckingham. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening and until the hour of services.
Mrs. Carpenter was born Sept. 9, 1862 in the country. She was married July 4, 1884 to Irah E Carpenter, who preceded her in death in 1915. Also preceding Mrs. Carpenter were two sons, Fred and Irah.
Survivors are a son, Earl of 343 North Schuyler avenue, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
