Granville Edwin Noblit, Jr. was born on 8 May 1895, in Tarpon Springs, Florida to Granville Edwin and Emma Jane (Ewing) Noblit, Sr..

Granville attended Christ School (a private boarding school) in Asheville, NC as a young lad. This must be where he obtained his love for the mountains of North Carolina as later in life he purchased properties in Waynesville and Maggie Valley, NC.

In 1917 at the age of 22, Granville worked for his father Granville Edwin Noblit, Sr. as a clerk in his hardware store, G. E. Noblit Hardware in Tarpon Springs.

On 5 April 1922 in his hometown of Tarpon Springs, he married the love of his life, Eula Mai McGregra, a true southern belle. Three children were born into this union. Mary Dawn, William Vaughn "Bill" and Granville Edwin "Bud" Noblit, III.

In 1924 he operated and managed the shipyard on the Anclote River. He obtained his license to sell Real Estate and was a former tax assessor for the city of Tarpon Springs for 15 years as well as a member of the Pinellas County School Board in 1931 and 1932.
He was a member and former chairman of the building committee and on the Board of Stewards of First United Methodist Church, Tarpon Springs, past master and 50-year member of Tarpon Springs Lodge No. 112 F&AM, the charter of Tarpon Springs Historical Society, and was a director of Ellis First National Bank of Tarpon Springs.

In 1938 he founded Noblit Insurance Agency. In 1958 he retired from his company whereupon he turned the business over to his two sons, William Vaughn "Bill" who served as President, and Granville Edwin "Bud" who served as Vice President. This company truly became a successful family business with not only his sons running it but his grandchildren working there as well. Over the years the business grew to add 4 satellite offices in New Port Richey, Port Richey, Spring Hill, and Clearwater.

On 11 April 1980, Granville suffered a heart attack and went home to be with his Lord and Savior. His memory is forever cherished and he is truly missed. I am forever grateful and honored to be his granddaughter. Family was everything to him and it showed in all his actions. Until we meet again sweet grandfather........
