Edna Mullins Lafon, 89, of Narrows, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 27, 2008, at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. She was born in Bath County, Va., on September 19, 1919, and was the daughter of the late Wesley Dillard and Mattie Edna Simpson Neff. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ilda Ezlee French. She was a retired employee of Celanese Acetate in Narrows with 36 years service and was a faithful member of Kathleen Memorial United Methodist Church in the Wolf Creek community in Giles County. She enjoyed crocheting, and loved sharing her talent with others. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was dearly loved by all who knew her. She is survived by three daughters, Edna Shell and husband, Noble, of Narrows, Stella Meadows, of Glen Lyn, and Carlene Marshall Cheatham and husband, Robert, of Chester, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Kathleen Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests that those sending memorial contributions, please consider Kathleen Memorial United Methodist Church.
