Edward H Pickering, Age 72 of 2817 Ashley Drive East, W. P. B, passed away Friday while visiting in California. Mr Pickering was a member of Vogel-Lee American Legion Post No. 47. He is survived by his wife Lillian, two sons: Jack Pickering of San Antonio, Texas, and Edward Pickering of Simi Valley, California, a daughter Mrs. Connie Minix of Gibbstown , New Jersey, one brother Leonard Pickering of Phladelphia, PA: two stepsons: Harry P. Springer of W. P. B, John W Springer of York, Pennsylvania. Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday at Tillman Military Trail Funeral Home, with Rev Phillip C Houseman of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Graveside services at Memory Gardens with Vogel-Lee American Legion Post 47. The family will receive friends from 2 until 7 and 7 until 9pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was a Philadelphia Police Officer/Detective for 30 years.
He worked in Mounted Traffic (horseback) and patrolled at 3rd and Market. He later transferred to patrol car #276 and patrolled the Mayfair district in Philadelphia
