Nellie "Ruth" Love-Gregory was born on August 23, 1926
Went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 20, 2001

Ruth was last known to be living in Mesquite, Texas.

She was a caring wife, loving mother of 8 children and an extremely proud "Nanny" of 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was the youngest of 13 children. Born to James Arthur Love and Willie Ann Chapman in Luling, Caldwell County, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband: William David Gregory, one of her 3 sons, Charles David Gregory "Pinkey" and one of her 5 daughters, Joann Whatson. Survived in life by her children. William Arthur Peeler "Tony" of Henderson, Tx., Virginia Darlene Polk of Balch Springs, Tx., Carolyn Ruth Zimmerman of Seagoville, Tx., Rhadonna Sue Harp of Belton, Tx., Rocky Bill Gregory of Seagoville, Tx. and Peggy Joyce Turner of Crandall, Tx. Her adopted daughter: Alice Clevinger of Mabank, Tx. Also survived by: 70 - grand, great-grand & great-great-grandchildren and countless other loved ones and friends.

The only thing in life she may have considered to be more important than her family was, her love for and her belief in, JESUS CHRIST!

She loved Him with all of her heart...

She was a wealth of knowledge. Considered to be, for our entire family, "INFORMATION CENTRAL". She cherished time spent with her family. She could hold her audience captive for hours on end telling stories about her life and her family. Answering questions one after the other about her folks, and of course where and how she grew up. QUITE ENTERTAINING to say the least. She relished any opportunity to cook for her loved ones, she always enjoyed having them over for huge family meals and game nights.

She was the biggest kid ever when it came to Christmas, well... the holidays in general. The joy of the season, all the beautiful lights and the anticipation of Christmas morning, thrilled her beyond words. She also loved to watch fire-works on the 4th of July, sure to gather all the little ones around to watch them with her.

She adored our big "family gatherings", just our way of celebrating the holidays.

She had an amazing ability to make EVERYONE feel welcome in her small, modest home. Though her home lacked space, her heart never did. There was always ample room in her heart and in her life for just one more. Willing to discipline when necessary and even more willing to console when it was needed. Truly, a VERY SPECIAL LADY, a HUGE BLESSING to all who knew and loved her.

GOD SENT for so many lives! She was all about forgiveness and new beginnings. She taught so many... so much... about JESUS, love, life, family, hope, sharing, faith, joy, starting over and about giving.

Fearless for her childrens sake and hesitant for her own. Understanding, loyal and committed. Selfless (most of the time lol), kind and warm. Sad, telling eyes. Strong yet tender hugs. Always considerate of others and oh so caring. With an unbelievable sense of humor.

She had an awesome and unequaled gift for loving!

Mama ... Nanny ... we cherish your memory and we thank GOD for allowing you, our "angel on earth". to be such an integral ("integral" defined: necessary to the completeness of the whole) part of our lives.

WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED ABUNDANTLY ...
