By the 1910 census, they had five children (Reubie, James, Frances, Gladys, and Robert) and they were living in Magisterial District #7, still in Calloway County, KY.
By 1920, their oldest daughter, Reubie, had moved to Washington, DC and was living in a rooming house on B Street N.E. and working as a stenographer. Their oldest son and second born, James, and his wife Hellen were living in North Platte, Nebraska in 1920. He was working as a telegraph operator, perhaps for the Union Pacific railroad which had and still has an office in that city.
Then in the 1930 census, John T. Burton, James' father was enumerated in their household (in North Platte). Ida, John's wife, was living with her daughter, Reubie and family in Fairfax, Virginia at Fort Humphreys (military reservation later renamed Fort Belvoir) in 1930. In 1932, John was listed in a North Platte, NE City Directory; his address was 1603 W. 3rd Street. His son James and wife Hellen were living at the same address.
I have not found any record of him after that time.
Ida's obituary was published in Washington Post 21 May 1952:
At 214 G. St. NW on May 19, 1952. Mother of Robert B. and James T. Burton, Mrs. Ethel Beard and Mrs. Gladys T. Wooley. Services at Chambers Funeral home 517 11th St. SE on Wednesday, May 21 at 1 p.m. Interment Washington National Cemetery.
She is buried in an unmarked grave.
(Reubie was not listed in her mother's obituary as she had died by that time; it is not known what became of Gladys as I have found no record.)
