Graveside services for Myrtis Briggs, 95, of Sherman will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 at the Sylverino Cemetery near Texarkana, Ark.
Myrtis passed away on Friday, Oct. 24, 2008 at the Mullican Care Center in Savoy.
She was born on Jan. 22, 1913 the daughter of Alonzo and Jenny Davis Aaron. She married Hiram Briggs on March 16, 1934 in Dallas. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1966. Myrtis was a member of the Beach Street Baptist Church in Texarkana.
She is survived by her daughter Patsy Cooke and husband Bobby of Sherman; grandchildren, Jeff Cooke and wife Theresa of Savoy, Katie Breeding and husband Tim of Bella Vista, Quay Cooke and wife Kristi of Melissa, Chad Cooke of Sherman, and Byron Jordan of Houston; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Cooke, Whitney Cooke, Nolan Cooke, Drew Breeding, Kelsey Breeding, Mason Cooke, Cayden Cooke and Norah Cooke. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Myrtis was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Frances Jordan and Elsie Blaine; one grandson, Terry Jordan; three brothers, Arlie Aaron, "Man" Aaron and Hubert Aaron; and two sisters, Ruby Briggs and Ester Jones.
The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26 at the Texarkana Funeral Home 3515 Texas Blvd.
Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.
