MARTHA HELEN ANDERSON WAS THE DAUGHTER OF GEORGE WASHINGTON AND MARY CATHERINE SANDERS ANDERSON.

SHE MARRIED CHRISTOPHER STARNES ANDERSON ON 10 MAR 1926 IN HAWKINS COUNTY, TENNESSEE. GOD BLESSED THIS MARRIAGE WITH THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN: JAMES ELMER, VIRGINIA ETHEL, ADA BLANCHE PEARL, MARY KATE, ANDREW JACKSON, NARMEL HELEN, WILLIAM GEORGE, BETTY LOUE, J C, LOWELL ONEAL AND CARSON JUNIOR ANDERSON.

THE SIBLINGS OF MARTHA HELEN ANDERSON WERE ELBERT "EALY" ROBERT, SAMUEL HENDERSON, CORNIE KATE, ALICE VERDIE, MARY ELIZABETH, CHARLES CLINTON AND MINA BLANCHE ANDERSON.

Martha Helen Anderson, 84, went home to be the Lord on Tuesday, April 11, 1989. She was a life long resident of Hawkins County. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and attended the Church Hill Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Starnes Anderson; her parents, George Washington and Mary Katherine Sanders Anderson; her paternal grandparents, George W and Mary Anderson Jones; and her maternal grandparents, Moses W. and Melinda Emeline Ramey Sanders; three sons, Andrew Jackson, Carson Junior and William George "Bill" Anderson, and one daughter, Virginia Ethel Atchley.

Surviving Mrs. Anderson are her four daughters, Mrs. Mary Smawley, Kingsport, Mrs. Betty Mitchell and Mrs. Norma Browning, both of Memphis, Mrs. Pearl Giles, Wichita, Kansas; three sons, Elmer Anderson, Rogersville, Lowell and J. C. Anderson, both of Church Hill; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Verdie Thacker of Mooresburg, TN and Mina Blanche Williams of Surgoinsville, TN.

Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Friday in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Joe Monroe officiating.

Burial will be in the John Wininger Cemetery.
