SHELLSBURG: Lillian C. McCormick, age 91, died Thursday, May 4, 2006 at the Rock Ridge Residential Care Center in Shellsburg following a brief illness.

According to her wishes Private Interment Services will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Grace Trinity Church in Shellsburg with Rev. Steve Benton of Faith Bible Church in Robins officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at the church on Saturday. A memorial fund has been established and contributions will be given to Hospice and the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lillian was born August 9, 1914 to Henry J.S. Hanson and Amelia C. (Englund) Hanson in Bayfield, Wisconsin and graduated from Bayfield High School in 1932. She then attended Stout State University in Menomonee, WI and received her Teaching Degree in 1936. Lillian taught in several communities and school districts including Shellsburg, Alburnette Schools and the Benton Community School District. On June 1, 1938 she married Roy D. McCormick in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Lillian also worked as a dietician for St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids and concluded her working career at the Cedar Rapids Christian Bookstore. In her life her family was second only to her faith, she loved her church and family get-togethers. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, sewing and writing. Lillian loved to serve, both her church and others that were around her. She always put the needs of others before her own.

Lillian is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen (McCormick) Inman of Oskaloosa, two sons, Paul D. McCormick of Magnolia, Texas and David H. McCormick of Shellsburg; one son-in-law; two daughter-in-laws; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one sister-in-law.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, one in infancy and, Dr. Kermit H. Hanson.
