Pfc. Jack Hand Was Killed in Action in Belgium
Word has been received that Pfc. Jack Hand was killed in action in Belgium on January 20.
A telegram from the War Department came to his parents Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Hand, who are now living northeast of Amarillo. The family formerly lived southeast of Canyon.
Jack entered the army on March 17, 1944. He was inducted through the local board. After 17 weeks of training in Camp Roberts, Calif., he was shipped to England in September of last year.
Jack was 19 years old Nov. 11, 1944.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Hand; four sisters, five brothers, and two grandmothers, Mrs. Mary Smith and Mrs. M. E. Hand.
He had been a student at W. T. high before induction.
