SHELLSBURG: Earl Stanley Lint, age 79, died Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Marengo Memorial Hospital in Marengo following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St, in Vinton with Chaplain Louis Bell officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday.

Earl was born August 26, 1927 in Canton Township of Benton County to William "Bill" and Margaret "Maggie" (Usher) Lint. During World War II he served his nation in the US Army and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. On May 30, 1947 he married Clara Mardell Zahn at Cedar Rapids.

Earl was employed as a meat cutter at Farmstead Foods in Cedar Rapids prior to his retirement. In his leisure he enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping, bowling, woodworking and carpentry. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, "Mardell" of Shellsburg; his daughters, Diana (Lowell) Stone of Grinnell, Marj (Rich) Walker of Victor, and Sharon (Richard) Fry of Ladora; his grandchildren, Richard Stone, Reyne (Doug) See, Becky (Paul) Rasmussen, Jennifer Walker, Christie Walker, Michael (Molly Fry, and Keith Fry; his great grandchildren, Alexia Stone, Trent Rasmussen, Ethan See and Zachary Stutzman; and his brothers, Bob (Betty) Lint of Cedar Rapids, Gene (Jeanette) Lint of Rapid City, SD, Clyde (Gloria) Lint of Altamont, MO, Gerald Lint of Florida and John (Marilyn) Lint of Clarion.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his son, Earl Roger Lint, his great grandson, Drew Stone, his sister, Helen Pettit, and his brothers, Ted and Richard Lint.
