Clara Meskimen
Shellsburg- Clara Rebecca Meskimen, age 85, died Monday afternoon, October 14, 1985, at Virginia Gay Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on November 23, 1899 at Shellsburg, the daughter of George G. and Marian E. Graham Mason. On April 3, 1918, she married C. L. (Doug) Meskimen at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Mrs. Meskimen is survived by her daughter-in-law, LaVonne Meskimen of Rochelle, Ill.; three grandsons, Doug Meskimen of Shellsburg, Steven of Sycamore, Ill., and David of Shabbona, Ill.; two grandaughters Mary Meskimen King of Rochelle, Ill. and Ellen Meskimen of Sycamore, Ill. and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, her son, Orlie, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday October 16, 1985, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Burt Kampman officiating, Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday where a memorial fund has been established.
Note: She really had two brothers, Oscar and Orley and a step brother, Earl Mason, of Nebraska, who later moved to Missouri.
