Mrs. Prime was born in Groveland on Nov. 19, 1917, daughter of the late John P. and Catherine A. (Long) McCusker. She was educated in Groveland schools, and graduated from Groveland High School, Class of 1935.
She began her career with New England Telephone Co. in the Haverhill District Office. She then worked for the former Western Electric Co., Lucent Technologies, Inc. No. Andover, for 32 years until her retirement in 1979. She was married for almost 65 years to the late William G. Prime, Sr., who died June 13, 2003.
During retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling, and especially vacationing in Florida. She also enjoyed bowling and was an avid Boston sports fan, following the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins. Most importantly, Mrs. Prime was a longtime proud member of the Groveland Democratic Town Committee, and volunteered for many years during elections in Groveland as a poll worker. Member of St. Patrick's Church, So. Groveland, since the Church was established in 1946.
Her surviving family members include her son, William "Jerry" Prime, Jr. and his wife Julie H. of Groveland; grandson, Matthew W. Prime of Manchester, N.H.; sister, Helen G. Fenlon, of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held Tuesday morning, Oct. 14, beginning from the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Haverhill Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church of Sacred Hearts Parish, 114 Center St., So. Groveland, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Main Street, Groveland. Calling hours will be held Monday in the C. Frank Linnehan and Son Haverhill Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
