DEATH OF MRS. W. W. MAYO
Was Widow of Founder of Mayo Clinic Institute at Rochester.
Rochester, Minn., July 15- Mrs. W. W. Mayo, aged ninety, widow of Dr. W. W. Mayo, founder of the Mayo Clinic and Surgical Institute, died today at the home of her daughter. Mrs. D. K. Berkman. She was married in 1851 to Dr. W. W. Mayo, and endured the hardships of the early pioneering days with the famous Rochester surgeon. Besides the daughter, two sons, Dr. W. J. Mayo and Dr. C. H. Mayo, survive her.

Did you know that if it weren't for me, Mayo Clinic, the best hospital in the world, would not be in Rochester, Minnesota at all? My husband, Dr. W. W. Mayo, took a job as a medical examiner for the Union Army in Rochester during the Civil War. I told him that this was the last of our numerous relocations, and Rochester would be our permanent home. I am Louise Wright Mayo, mother of the famous Mayo brothers.
