I knew Spider just about his whole life, although I hadn't seen him a lot in the past several years, it was always great to run into him occasionally. He was the same age as my younger brother and I remember several memorable times of their friendship.

OBITUARY :
MR. WILLIAM E. "SPIDER" BARE, 58, of 25 North Potomac Street, Apartment 304, Waynesboro, PA, died at 6:15 P.M., Thursday, August 21, 2008 in Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, MD. He had been in failing health for the past several years and critically ill for the past two weeks.

Born April 1, 1950 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of Clarence and Vivian (Gsell) Bare.

Mr. Bare was a graduate of Waynesboro High School with the Class of 1968.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

Mr. Bare was employed as a welder for Grove Manufacturing, Shady Grove, PA, as a heavy equipment operator for GRC General Contractor, Inc, Zullinger, PA, as a machine operator at Fort Ritchie, MD and as a truck driver and machine operator at D.L. George & sons, Waynesboro. Following his retirement of disability, he was employed part time as a bartender at Order of Owls Nets #1073, Waynesboro.

He was a member of Order of Owls Nest #1073, Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #1758, all of Waynesboro.

Mr. Bare enjoyed hunting, was a fan of NASCAR and a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by one daughter, Ashley M. Kauffman of Waynesboro; two step-sons, David Zeigler of Waynesboro and Michael Zeigler of Omaha, NE; two step-grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Doyle of Shippensburg, PA and Betsy Wright of Waynesboro; two nephews and one niece.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 26, 2008 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M., Monday in the funeral home.
