Funeral services for Carolyn Beverage, 62, a longtime Floyd resident will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 26, 2008, in the Wheeler Mortuary chapel with Rev. Dennis Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Cade Beverage, Will Banister, Gary Beverage, Colt Banister, Will Banister, Jr., and Tell Montoya serving as pallbearers. Red Montgomery, Jim Bob Best, Efrian Urias, Rick Andes and all her other many friends will be honorary pallbearers.
Carolyn Lanell Beverage was born June 25, 1946, in Sacramento, CA to Bobbie and Earl Cross and died September 23, 2008, in Farwell, TX. The Cross family moved to the Floyd community when Carolyn was 3 years old, and Floyd remained her home for the majority of her lifetime. She was married to Grady Banister for several years before the couple divorced. On May 25, 1973, in Fort Sumner, she was married to Bill Beverage. Carolyn loved ranching and being outdoors. She was an avid horsewoman, and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Carolyn was a devoted mother, but her great love was for her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons, Will Banister of Portales, Gary (Trina) Beverage of Artesia, NM and Cade (Heather) Beverage of Farwell, TX; and three daughters, Jodie Byrd of Clovis, NM, Judy Beverage of Santa Rosa, NM and Charitie Beverage of Portales, NM; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, LaHonda Fox and by her husband, Bill Beverage who died July 20, 1997.
