Mount Airy News – Dec. 19, 1918

Mrs. Cecil Hennis Dead.

Mrs. Cecil Hennis died at her home on Cherry Street Friday morning after a short illness of influenza and pneumonia and complications. She was a young mother, beautiful in life and character, a devoted wife and a beloved neighbor. She came here from Speedwell, VA., after her marriage about three years ago and has won the love and esteem of all with whom she came in contact.

She was less than twenty-two years of age, and we can only think of her as a bright flower transplanted by the Master's hand.

The funeral was conducted from the home on Sunday morning by her pastor, Rev. Geo. D. Herman, assisted by Rev. Bales, and the remains laid to rest at Oakdale Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband and little son, both of whom have been ill and the child not yet out of danger. She also leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James of Pinson Fork, VA, who arrived Saturday night, and one sister, Mrs. Fox of Kentucky.
