Joe Wheeler Parker, 92, resident of Texas City for over sixty years passed away on Friday, September 26, 2008, after a short illness. He was born and raised in Aiken, Texas in Shelby County. Joe was an active member of the First Christian Church of La Marque for forty-five years; a Charter member of the La Marque Masonic Lodge and a longtime member of the Pipefitter Local 211.

Joe is survived by his wife of sixty-six years Norene Parker; three daughters Nelwyn Anderson, Margaret Jansen and husband Gene and Sherry Spier and husband Robert; two sons Bennis Parker and John Parker; eight grandchildren Ray Parker, Harley Anderson, Zack Jansen, Brandy Campbell, Brittany Campbell Kyle Campbell Jr. and Kristen Parker and William Parker; three great- grandchildren Katelyn Anderson, Riley Anderson and Korbin Winton and sister Orene Y'Barbo and husband Merril.
Joe was a well-known Gardener, loving father and husband.
