Neill Taggart Babb, 88, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, October 26, 2010 at Virginia Retirement Community in Harrisonburg.

A son of the late Clement E. and Martha Bird Babb, he was born on February 27, 1922 in Jenningston, WV.
Neill was a 1940 graduate of Handley High School and was a member of Market Street Methodist Church in Winchester.
During WWII he served in the US Army in the Pacific Theatre and for a period after the war ended continued to serve in Japan. Following his discharge he returned home and was employed by The Winchester Evening Star and O'Sullivan Rubber Company.

On November 13, 1955, he married Norma McCoy who survives him. In 1965 they moved to Vienna, VA. He attended American University in Washington, DC where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and was employed by The Mitre Corp in McLean, VA. Upon his retirement in 1989 they returned to Winchester to live.

In 2000 they moved to Harrisonburg to VMRC where he was active in the retirement community, enjoyed their many new friends and attended Otterbein United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Eugene C. Babb of Winchester, C. Edwin Babb of Burlington, Ontario, Canada and a number of nieces and nephews; as well as three godchildren, Carla Carlyle Ramseier, Debbie Hess Bower, and David Hess, and his loving and faithful friends, Junior and Betty Hess.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary B. Macpherson and Martha B. Strunce Walsh, as well as three brothers, Andrew B. Babb, Robert M. Babb, and Daniel M. Babb.

A graveside service will be conducted 12:30 PM, Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Mount Hebron Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Robert Throckmorton. A reception will follow at the Market Street United Methodist Church.
