Leonard Graphic 5 Nov 1948 Funeral services for Aub Barbee, former Hunt
County resident, who died early Thursday morning at his home in Ardmore,
Oklahoma, were held at 2 pm Saturday afternoon at the Quinlan Baptist Church,
with Rev. L. M. Joines, of Forney, officiating, assisted by his Ardmore pastor.
Burial was in the Quinlan Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Fred Wren, C. C. Ferguson,
Kenneth Cannon, Bemie Payne, G. N. Wade and H. W. Davis.

A native of Linden, Texas, Mr. Barbee was born on September 11, 1885 the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barbee. His parents moved to Quinlan when he was a child and
he was reared in that community. He was a rural mail carrier out of the Quinlan
Post Office for a number of years before moving to Oklahoma. He was a member of
the Masonic Lodge and retained his membership in Trestle Board Lodge, Quinlan.
He is survived by his widow, the former Exar Ellison; one daughter, Mrs. Jim
Hafley, Ardmore; two sisters, Mrs. Clint Joines, Forney; Mrs. C. E. Harris,
Odessa; five brothers. Henry W. Barbee, Greenville; Ed Barbee, Quinlan; Mint
Barbee, Orange; Jack H. Barbee, Leonard; James E. Barbee, McAlester, Okla; two
brothers, Victor R. and Albert R. and one sister, Mrs. Etta Smith, preceded him
in death.
