JAS. J. WELDON DEAD
Jas. J. Weldon died at his home in this city last Saturday, July 3, after a protracted illness. He was at the time of his death 89 years of age.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Sunday, Rev. W. A. Turnage preaching the sermon at the request of the deceased, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Hinton cemetery. The last sad rites and burial taking place in the presence of many friends and relatives.
James J. Weldon was born April 4, 1828 in Virginia. Moved with his parents to Kentucky at three years of age. Came to Oklahoma in 1907. He was married to Elizabeth Highbaugh Nov. 29, 1848. Nine children were born of this union, the mother and four children having already preceded him to the land beyond. Two of the children are here, Edward Weldon, of Hydro and Mary Buckner.
His dear wife, Mary E. Weldon, with his five children are left to mourn his departure. His wife has set an example of true womanhood in her loyalty to her husband in all the years of her self sacrifice of her young womanhood.
